"wood over linoleum height difference"

I am having about 800 sq ft of strand bamboo installed in my upstairs. House was built in 1968 and under the carpet I found linoleum squares in three of the bedrooms but not the hallway or master bedroom. The walk-in closet of the master does have the linoleum. I am not thrilled about having to remove all the linoleum or paying someone to do it. Wondering if I can install over the linoleum and somehow deal with the height difference between the hallway and bedrooms and the closet in the master. The installer is not a floor installer but a handyman who is quite skilled. He did a total remodel on both our bathrooms and did a great job. He thought going over the linoleum might work,
but I would like to get an experienced floor installers opinion.
Any help would be apreciated.

Colin
